Exploratory Research
I started off my research with literature review and 2 contextual inquiries.
To dig deeper I conducted 10 interviews with tattoo artists at a nearby tattoo convention.
I then conducted semi-structured interviews with 13 tattoo-getters to hear their side of the story.

Early Insights
One common complaint of tattoo artists is when clients show up with unrealistic expectations for their tattoo.
Not all clients understand the importance of choosing an artist based on their portfolio and individual style.
Online Survey
I constructed an online survey in Qualtrics which I distributed through Reddit and snowball method. Questions were focused on learning about common experiences during tattoo aftercare and trusted sources of information about tattoos.
I gathered 36 responses from individuals of varying experience. Participants' number of tattoos ranged from 1 to 31, with the average being 8 tattoos.
Which advice do I follow?
One consistent sentiment from the interviews was individuals hearing different advice from different sources.
